Sawston Village College

The First Village College

Sawston Village College was opened in 1930 as the first village college, part of the vision of Henry Morris - an educational pioneer who believed in learning from the cradle to the grave. Today, SVC has over 1000 pupils aged 11-16, and was rated Good by Ofsted in 2013.

A Partnering Agreement

As you can imagine, running costs at SYD are high and grow year on year. We are immensely grateful to Sawston Village College for the key role they play in supporting SYD by offering performance and rehearsal space free of charge throughout the year, as well as the numerous other benefits they provide us such as advertising space in school publications, displays around the school site, and a link through from their website.

Passion for the Arts

Both Sawston Village College and Sawston Youth Drama share a passion for the arts, and a desire to see young people given the opportunity to succeed at whatever they turn their hands to. SYD were overjoyed to see SVC awarded the coveted ArtsMark Platinum in recent years, a just recognition of the dedication and hard work that goes into the arts at SVC.
